Karen Dobson, College Principal and Chief Executive said: “Demand for places in our new college has been higher than ever. However we have still got a few places available for this September.”
She added: “At Newcastle-under-Lyme College we believe strongly in helping every student to identify their preferred learning style and to choose the best possible pathway to university or job success.
“We’re well placed to give impartial advice as we offer every type of post-16 course, including A/AS Levels, vocational courses and Apprenticeships.”
This year the College achieved a record 98.5 per cent A Level pass rate, once again exceeding the national average, with more students than ever before achieving the top grades.
The percentage passing with grades A to C increased to 69%, up by more than three per cent on last year. What's more 27 out of 32 subjects achieved 100% pass rates.
Pass rates on advanced vocational courses were also high. Almost a third of all students taking the BTEC National Diplomas achieved the top 'triple distinction' grade - equivalent to 3 As at A Level and attracting the same number of UCAS points (91 students) and 13 out of 14 subjects achieved 100% pass rates.
