College opens doors to adult students

Newcastle-under-Lyme College (NULC) is opening its doors to prospective adult students next week.
The College’s advice and enrolment event for adults is being held on Thursday 9 September 2010 from 5.30pm to 8pm.
Visitors will be able to discuss their education and training options with the College’s experienced staff and view the state-of-the-art facilities on offer at the new Knutton Lane campus.
Courses on offer from this September include a large number of professional qualifications, including AAT and ACCA accounting courses, teacher training courses and leadership and management programmes accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
There are also a few available places on the College’s expanding range of Foundation degree (Fd) courses offered in partnership with Staffordshire University, in areas such as art, design and media, IT, complementary therapies, engineering and childcare.
Janet Scrivens, Head of Lifelong Learning at Newcastle-under-Lyme College, said: “The College is well placed to help local adults who want to enhance their career prospects and boost their earning potential.
“We offer a wide range of part-time courses at different levels, access to financial and learning support and top quality teaching with first class resources and facilities.”
She added: “Whether people are looking to gain new qualifications, retrain for a new career or brush up their existing skills, there’s something for everyone.”
A wide range of other part-time courses and apprenticeship programmes are available in subjects including construction, business, retail, customer service, warehousing and health and social care.
The College also runs recreational courses in community venues throughout Newcastle and Kidsgrove and a range of language classes.
