College helps students take the next step
Students at Newcastle-under-Lyme College (NULC) are to get help to decide their next step.
The College is holding its second annual ‘Next Steps Week’ from Monday 8 to Friday 12 March.
The highlight of the week will be the Next Steps Fair on Thursday 11 March, which is designed to help students who are approaching the end of their time at College decide what to do next.
Lynsey Shearsmith, Learner Participation Co-ordinator, said: “This is a crucial time for many of our students. As they approach the end of their course they need solid information, advice and guidance to help them plan their next steps.”
She added: “Our aim is to let students know about all the options available to them, so that they can make informed, responsible choices that will help them shape a successful future.”
As well as offering advice on prospective careers, the Next Steps Fair will also give students the opportunity to find out about part-time jobs they can do while they’re studying, further and higher education courses, apprenticeships, life at university, volunteering and gap years.
During the week undergraduates from local universities will also be coming into the College to give advice and guidance to students during tutorials.
