Facilities for Students
Newcastle-under-Lyme College is proud of the facilities it provides for its students. They include great spaces for socialising, a hairdressing and beauty therapy salon in addition to online resources and learning resource centres designed to enhance the learning experience.
Learning Resources Centre (LRC)
Our Learning Resources Centre provides a wide range of services to support all your information, study and IT needs. The Centre is open access with help and advice available at all times. It contains over 70 computers, 18,000 books, videos, magazines, newspapers and electronic information. We also have:

- Scanners
- Colour printing
- Internet and email
- On-line databases
- Specialist careers advice
- Learning materials
- Black and white and colour photocopying
- Silent study area
Our computers are attached to a high speed network and run all the latest software. You will receive your own user-name which enables you to access all the College software including the Internet, email and on-line databases. These give you access to huge banks of information held outside the College which will be useful for your course.
You are also able to borrow up to five books at any one time. Books are issued for four weeks and can be renewed if not previously reserved by another student.

The Food Hall
The Food Hall is open from 8.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Thursday and until 1.30pm on Fridays, during term time.
College Shop
The Shop is open from 8.15am to 6pm Monday to Thursday and 8.15am to 4pm during term time. You can call in to top up your phone credit, buy magazines, or grab a sandwich, drink or snack if you’re eating on the move.
There are also lots of vending machines throughout the college, serving drinks and snacks when you need them.
Coffee Lounge (We proudly brew Starbucks Coffee)
The Coffee Lounge is open from 8am - 8pm during term time. Choose from a selection of hot and cold snacks and delicious hot drinks.
The College has an stunning new hair and beauty salon – run by experienced professionals who manage our hair and beauty teaching department.
You can make an appointment for a range of treatments – from a quick nail manicure or pedicure, to a de-stressing massage or a hair appointment – cutting, styling and colouring are all available at bargain prices.
The treatments are carried out by the college’s hair and beauty students and supervised by a qualified industry professional. Plus, as a student at the college, you’ll get an extra discount!

Our fantastic new Gordon Banks Sports Centre boasts a 4-court sports hall which offers a range of sports usage, including badminton, cricket, basketball and more. There is also a state-of-the-art dance studio and a 25 station fitness suite featuring cardiovascular and weight training machines. The Gordon Banks Sports Centre also includes sports specific seminar rooms where sports students have their sports theory seminars.
The outdoor area includes three senior football pitches and one junior pitch. Our brand new all-weather, floodlit multi-purpose pitch has enhanced high quality synthetic turf pitches with changing rooms and officials rooms which open onto the football pitches for Newcastle under Lyme College (NULC) home games.
