Construction Courses at NULC

NULC's Construction courses offer you the chance to benefit from imaginative and motivational teaching, high quality learning resources and secure yourself a great start in your chosen career.

Preparation for employment

The College's construction department has close links with local employers and has recently launched a partnership with leading house-builder Barratt Manchester. As part of your course you will be encouraged to undertake work experience and industry visits to prepare you for life after college.

Progression to university

In 2010, the College introduced a Level 3 course in Brickwork enabling successful students to progress onto higher education programmes in a relevant area such as architecture, quantity surveying or construction management. Five students from this group are currently seeking to apply to universities across the country, including Sheffield.

Contribution to the community

Last year students from our construction department volunteered their skills and time to help refurbish the Animal Lifeline charity shop in Newcastle town centre.

• Full time Electrical level 3 - 100 % Success and achievement
• Full time Bricklaying level 2 - 100% Success and achievement

Commenting on this year’s achievements, Karen Dobson, Principal and Chief Executive at Newcastle-under-Lyme College, said: “We’re absolutely delighted by the achievements of all the students, and very proud of all the staff who have worked hard to provide the high standard of teaching, learning and support that helps our students to achieve such high levels of success.”

She added: “This is a fantastic achievement to mark the first year in our new college environment. We’re receiving record numbers of applications for all our courses and results like these will see the success story continue - for us and for our students.”
