Guide to Online Enrolment

It is important that you read this information prior to completing an online enrolment. Please note that online enrolment is currently only available for our adult and community learning courses.

How to enrol online

Prior to starting the online enrolment process you will need:

  • Your contact details
  • Your payment details (credit/debit card, password/security code).

The form contains four simple steps and should take you no longer than 10 minutes to complete.

Instructions

You will need to click on the ‘Enrol Now' link (on the bottom or right hand side of the screen). You will be guided through a series of four web pages which will ask you to enter your personal details, information about your course and payment details. When you click the 'Submit' button you will be directed to our third party payment gateway, where your card details will be securely processed. Please note that full payment is taken immediately.

Once you have completed enrolment you will see a ‘Confirmation' screen and a copy of this will be sent to your email account within 24 hours. You may wish to print this out as confirmation you have completed online enrolment.

If you are using the internet in a public place please close your browser when you have finished in order to protect your privacy.

FAQs

Q. My card isn't being accepted. What’s the problem?

A. Cards are refused for a number of reasons. When you press the submit button to complete your order, SagePay (our payment gateway which processes the cards for us) and your bank communicate with each other, checking that all the payment details you provide are correct and match with what they hold in their records. All of this only takes a matter of seconds and if the details match, the payment is authorised and the order is successful.

We have listed the most common errors for when a payment fails, please check those listed below and try enrolling again. If you still experience problems, please contact us and we will try our best to assist:

1. Incorrect card details.

Please ensure all card details are entered exactly as printed on your card. The card number is the long row of numbers in the middle of the card and needs to be entered in full. The same applies to the issue/expiry number, if ‘03’ is printed on your card, type in 03 and not 3 as this may cause the bank to refuse authorisation. In the same instance, if it is printed as 3 on your card, type in 3 and not 03.

Please also make sure the correct type of card is chosen from the drop down box on the payment page. If you are paying with a visa card, please choose that from the list. If paying with a maestro card, please ensure maestro is chosen from the list. If the card type chosen doesn't match the card details entered, the bank may decline the transaction.

2. Transaction declined by the bank.

This can be due to a number of factors:

a) There are insufficient funds on the card. If you think this is incorrect, please contact your bank.

b) The transaction is for a high or unusual value and the bank require confirmation. Please contact your bank and confirm the order and to allow payment to be authorised.

c) The card number is incorrect, the expiry date is invalid or the account is closed. Please re-check the card details entered.

Q. It's asking for some kind of online activation for my card. What is this?

A. This is known as 3D-Secure and is an online equivalent of a PIN number. It was launched by Visa and MasterCard (which includes Maestro) to help combat credit card fraud and has the backing of all the major banks. It is 100% secure and safe and is part of the online checkout for where these cards are used to fund payment. 3D-Secure will ensure that only the genuine cardholder can use the card to make payments online, therefore adding even more confidence to your online enrolment experience.

To help and for added assurance, we have briefly listed the process for what happens during checkout:

a) Once you have entered your card details, you will be prompted on the next page to register/enrol your card for 3D Secure.

b) If you have already registered your card, you will be redirected to the Verified by Visa/MasterCard Secure Code website to enter your password.

Please note that you must complete these steps where required to ensure your order is successful. Closing your browser/page before enrolment has been completed, not activating your card where required, or not entering the correct password will mean that the payment will fail.
