Financial support for students on university courses
Student Loans
If you are taking a full-time undergraduate course (Foundation degree or Foundation Year) at NULC, you can apply to your Local Authority for a repayable loan of up to £3,145 from the Student Loans Company to cover your tuition fees and help with your living costs (as long as you do not already have an honours degree). You do not have to begin repaying a Student Loan until you have completed the course and earn an annual salary of £15,000 or more.
Maintenance Grant
If you are taking a full-time undergraduate course (Foundation degree or Foundation Year) at NULC and are from England, you may be able to get help with accommodation and other living costs through the Government's Maintenance Grant. Certain groups of students can apply for the Special Support Grant instead. These grants don’t have to be repaid.
