Students at Newcastle-under-Lyme College (NULC) are celebrating their A Level results.  Students have achieved 128 A* and A grades across a range of subjects including Business Studies, Biology and Psychology, an increase on last year’s results.

Three subjects in particular achieved exceptional success this year; Maths/Further Maths, Law and Physics. In Maths just under 60% of students achieved A*-B grades, in Law 56% of students achieved A*-B grades and in Physics 58% achieved A*-B grades.

Tom Clarke

A level Grades Achieved: Maths A*, Further Maths A*, Physics A* and Chemistry A.

As soon as I started at NULC the subject lecturers were always there and willing to help and discuss any problems. The tutor support is great and helps with all areas of student life. I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere at College and the focus on individual study.I would recommend NULC for the helpful and friendly staff as well as the relaxed atmosphere.”

Tom is planning to study Maths at Oxford University.

“At College your learning is a lot more independent and the atmosphere is a lot less formal. I really appreciated the fact I’m not treated as a child but it’s always good to know the lecturers are on hand to over see your progress and answer any questions if you get stuck."

"In my first year at College I took part in the Primary Science Scheme where I got the chance to introduce basic science concepts to Primary School children. In my second year I joined the student council where we discuss and resolve issues around the College. It’s great that students have a real say in the College. I would recommend NULC, it has state of the art facilities, knowledgeable and friendly staff and offers a broad range of courses that suit every individual’s taste."

Richard is planning on studying Biochemistry at The University of Birmingham, where he hopes to progress in a career in Genetic Research.”

“NULC has a really good reputation for helping students to achieve their potential and that’s what really attracted me.

I actually enjoy the lessons at NULC compared to school, the atmosphere is so much more relaxed. The support on offer from lecturers and tutors is fantastic, I have benefited from extra revision classes in areas that I have found challenging.

I would really recommend NULC, more than anything for its staff. The lecturers are very supportive and friendly."

Laura is going on to the University of Bath to study a Masters degree in Mathematics.

"I felt NULC was the right College for me as it has some of the highest pass rates in the area for the courses I wanted to study. As an assertive person I feel better suited to College, as I enjoy being treated as an adult.

The College staff are brilliant and have always been available when you need them. I would thoroughly recommend NULC, the courses here are brilliant and the staff are so generous and supportive."

Elizabeth is planning to study Film at the University of Warwick.
