Academy Staff
The NULC Academy of Sport coaching staff have a vast amount of experience in their area of expertise. They are as follows:
Jenny Winch - NULC Netball Academy Head Coach
Jenny is a Level 2 qualified Netball Coach and has played Netball for many years culminating in competing for Staffordshire. Jenny has a BA Hons degree in Early Years and Education and has many years of experience teaching children and young adults in various subjects from early years to netball. She is currently head coach of the Netball Academy.
Shawn Jamison - NULC Basketball Academy Head Coach
Shawn Jamison is the coach of the NULC Basketball Academy. He has over 20 years of experience in the game of basketball both as a coach and as a player.
His career highlights consist of NBA experience with the Los Angeles Clippers; he was also part of the Harlem Globetrotters who were the first team to actually showcase his skills in the UK when he played dates at the London Arena, Wembley Arena and the MEN in Manchester where he was MVP of the tour.
He then began a 7 year career in the British Basketball league and spent 5 of those 7 years with the Milton Keynes Lions, where he won a cup title for the Lions.
Anthony Bosson - Sports Therapist
Ant completed his BSc (Hons) Sports Therapist course and began working with PVFC first team in 2006 before moving to a consultancy role with the UK Athletics team and GB Swimming team (worked at the 2007 World Swimming Championships alongside Team GB) which is still current.
In 2009 Ant attained the FA Diploma in Treatment, Management and Rehabilitation of Injuries. As a result of this success Ant is now a member of the FA Medical Staff and was recently appointed as Sports Therapist at Aston Villa Football Club.
Mel Harling- Lecturer in Sport and Sport Science Support Office
Mel is a university graduate from Leeds Met University - Carnegie; with a BSc. Hons in Sport and Exercise Science. Mel's specialist subject areas include: Anatomy, Exercise, Physiology and Biomechanics of Sport. Her specialist sports include swimming, gymnastics and football. Mel has also played football for Stoke City Ladies FC, and Bradwell Belle’s and is an experienced fitness instructor and personal trainer.
Trevor Humphreys - NULC Academy of Sport Manager
Trevor studied Sport and Exercise Science at Brunel University in London and then completed a Masters degree in Sport and the Law at Manchester Metropolitan University. Trevor worked as a Sports Development Officer for three years before moving into teaching. He completed his PGCE at Staffordshire University and became the Sports Co-ordinator for the College in July 2008 and progressed to Academy of Sport Manager. Trevor’s duties include management of all aspects of the Academy of Sport, including all the Sports Academies
