NULC Football Academy in partnership with Newcastle Town Football Club
The NULC Football Academy (in partnership with Newcastle Town Football Club) will suit you if you want flexibility in the type of course you study - for example you could train in engineering, care, construction, art and design, or A Levels. This academy is open to 16-19 year old males and females.
As a member of the NULC Football Academy, you will receive professional coaching by experienced UEFA licensed coaches. You’ll take part in three practical coaching sessions a week (8 hours in total) to fit around your timetable, as well as having the chance to play regular competitive fixtures in the British Colleges Sport (BCS) West Midlands regional leagues and cups. The first team will play their home games at Newcastle Town’s Lyme Valley Stadium in the Football Conference Youth Alliance League.
Physiotherapy and Sports Massage will also be available to all players, as will the opportunity to compete in the growing sport of Futsal within BCS leagues.
You will also have access to the college Coach Education Programme through provision of the FA Level 1 and Futsal coaching badges, refereeing qualifications and coaching workshops. There is also the Newcastle Town Coaching Academy and Brazilian Coaching Academy to get involved with. Both give you the opportunity of gaining coaching and leadership qualifications in Football. You will also have the opportunity to complete both the Community Sport Leaders Award (CSLA) and, Higher Sport Leaders Award (HSLA).

If you're male, aged 16 to 18, and have the enthusiasm and dedication to succeed in football then the MMU/NULC Football Academy is for you. You’ll follow a rigorous programme of study and coaching to develop your natural talent, working towards a BTEC Level 2 Diploma or BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence) alongside your training.
You'll train on the football pitch four days a week at MMU Cheshire (Crewe campus) and attend Newcastle-under-Lyme College one day a week to concentrate on your Diploma qualification. Course units include the body in action, principles of coaching, psychology, fitness testing, sports injuries, nutrition, working with children, health and safety in sport and games and values in sport. You’ll gain insight into the sports industry through work experience and you could also take first aid and coaching qualifications.
