NU WAVE: Launch Event for Transform Salon and Spa

Newcastle-under-Lyme College (NULC) hosted a glamorous event to launch its new commercial hair, beauty and holistic therapies salon. The Transform Salon and Spa launch event took place on Monday 17 May 2010 at the College’s new campus on Knutton Lane.

More than 100 local hair and beauty professionals attended the event, which had a 1980s theme. De Barry Blanchard, Worthy Master of the Guild of Hairdressers, was in attendance together with Eve Taylor, founder of Eve Taylor™ Professional Aromatherapy Skin and Body Care. Net proceeds from the event were donated to the Douglas Macmillan Hospice.

The highlight of the launch event was an 80s themed hair, beauty and fashion show – called ‘NU WAVE’ – which featured work by current and former hairdressing students from the College working alongside the technical team from AFFINAGE Salon Professional.

The models outfits were provided by Debenhams’ Hanley store and styled by Personal Shopper Andrea Sawyer-Hartley with assistance from the College‘s fashion students. The event was also being supported by Natalie at Elizabeth’s Florists.
