A Level Courses
Each year, around 1100 academic students from across Staffordshire and Cheshire choose to study AS and A Levels at Newcastle-under-Lyme College’s Sixth Form Centre.
At NULC you can choose from AS and A Levels in more than 35 different subjects, where our lecturers are passionate experts who provide high quality teaching.
Are A Levels for you?
This is you:
- I prefer exams to coursework
- I like theories, ideas and facts
- I want to study 3 or 4 subjects in depth
- I'd like to go on to university or on to an apprenticeships
Usually 5 or more high grades at GCSE including English and maths (with A* - B grades in the subjects you want to study at A Level)
- 3 subjects* at AS Level in year 1
- 3 A Levels in year 2 (depending on your AS Level grades)
- English and maths
- Relevant work experience
Whatever you study at NULC, you will receive help and support to continually improve your maths and English skills and qualifications.

*If you have an aspiration to study medicine or dentistry you will be able to choose a fourth AS subject but you will need to discuss this with one of our Assistant Heads.
