The College’s dedicated Schools Liaison Team is here to provide a comprehensive service to schools, pupils, parents and careers advisors to help keep you updated regarding the opportunities available at Newcastle-under-Lyme College for full-time, post-16 courses.
The Schools Liaison Team at NULC, is Gareth Hughes and Tara Capper. They are here to help with the transition from school to college, through providing information about both the full-time courses and facilities available at NULC. The team visits local schools to provide a range of talks, activities and workshops and organises subject specific taster sessions and college tours at NULC.

Are you a Parent/Guardian?
Schools Liaison offer advice and guidance to pupils and we are also here to inform parents/guardians about their children’s post 16 choices.
We can point you in the right direction towards financial assistance, transport information and details about the level of support available at NULC.
If you are unable to attend a college open event or you would like a one to one tour of the college with your child, please contact the Schools Liaison Team who can arrange a time and date to suit you.
We regularly attend local school parent’s evenings and careers fairs, so please come and see us if you have a query and we would be happy to help. Alternatively you can contact us via the enquiry form, email address or phone numbers below.
Once students have enrolled at NULC, you will be given access to the College’s Parent’s Portal so that you can keep up to date with your child’s progress. The Parents Portal is a free web-based information service for parents and guardians of NULC students. The Parent’s Portal shows you their timetable, register information, target grades and email contact details for their personal tutor. You will also be invited to regular parent’s evenings at the college.

Schools Liaison Activities:
We can offer:
- College presentations for Year 9, 10 & 11 pupils
- Workshops/ Talks: Interviews Skills, Confidence Building, Revision Guides, Aspirations Talks
- Application sessions: Course advice for pupils completing college applications online, paper or through UCAS Progress
- Lunch time drop-in sessions and workshops with College Faculty staff delivering hands-on demonstrations
- Mock interviews and mock results sessions.
- Subject specific taster sessions in school or at the college. These can be tailor made to suit the current school curriculum.
- Group tours and tasters to NULC.
- One to one tours of the college for pupils with either parents/guardians or careers advisors
- Course Update Day for Careers Advisors and Teachers
- Work Experience placements at the College.
- Schools parents evenings
- Schools careers events with Schools Liaison staff and College Faculty staff delivering hands-on demonstrations
- Parent only college talks to discuss post-16 options and financial support
