College assessor shortlisted for prestigious sector award
20th December 2017
Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) are celebrating the success of Assessor, Colin Alaimo, who has been announced as a finalist in the prestigious TES FE Awards, in the ‘Assessor of the Year’ category.
TES, formerly known as the Times Educational Supplement, is a leading world-wide teaching publication which was launched in the UK over 100 years ago. The annual TES FE Awards celebrate and reward the dedication and expertise of the people and teams who continue to make a significant contribution to improving the skill levels of young people and adult learners.
Responsible for supporting engineering apprentices in the workplace and in their off the job training, Colin was recognised as a finalist in the ‘Assessor of the Year’ category after being nominated for his outstanding contribution and excellent student achievement rates.
Jane Tunnicliff, Group Head of Employer Engagement and Training, who nominated Colin for the award, said: “Staff, employers and apprentices all speak highly of Colin who is an outstanding assessor and a fantastic ambassador for the College. His dedication and enthusiasm shows in the success of his apprentices, who have gained 100% achievement for the last two academic years.”
The TES FE awards are open to all further education providers: colleges, work based learning providers, adult and community learning providers, offender learning establishments and specialist designated institutions. An independent panel of judges will select the winners who will be announced on 23rd February 2018 at a 600 guest gala dinner hosted in London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.
Karen Dobson, Principal and Chief Executive of Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group, said: “We are delighted that Colin has been shortlisted for this prestigious national award – he has worked for the College for over 15 years and has consistently been known for his commitment, dedication and loyalty. He is a true professional, worthy of this recognition, and the entire team will be wishing him every success at the awards ceremony in February.”
NSCG is the leading general further education college in the West Midlands for apprenticeship achievement, ranked in 8th position nationally, according to the latest published Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) league tables.
