Newcastle-under-Lyme College (NULC) has been shortlisted in 10 out of 22 categories in this year’s national BTEC Awards 2017.

The BTEC Awards, now in its seventh year, aims to recognise the exceptional achievements of individuals, along with the excellent teachers, tutors, schools and colleges.

Competing against a strong field, with a high standard and volume of submissions, NULC was successfully shortlisted in the following categories:

Business & Enterprise Student of the Year – Harry Chevins

Child and Social Care Student of the Year - Tiffany Parker

IT and Computing Student of the Year - Josef Billington

Performing Arts Student of the Year - Hannah Bates

Public Services Student of the Year - Megan Montford

Sport Student of the Year - Matthew Salt

Teacher/Tutor of the Year – Maggie Daniels

BTEC Apprentice of the Year 2017 (16-18) - Kathy Green

BTEC Apprentice of the Year 2017 (19+) - Jack Pettitt

BTEC College of the Year 2017

Principal & Chief Executive of NULC, Karen Dobson said: “BTEC is a high quality and demanding qualification, increasingly sought after by universities and employers, and indeed is a popular sixth-form pathway amongst our student population.  We have a broad BTEC offer at NULC, developed in partnership with key employers to recognise the skills needs in the region.  We deliver consistently high achievement rates and strong progression from NULC to higher education, further education and training or employment, so to be recognised in so many categories at a national level is a fantastic testament to our dedicated students and staff.”

Shortlisted nominations will now be judged by an expert panel of vocational employers, journalists, tutors and educationalists. Successful entrants will be recognised at a glittering awards ceremony on 6 July at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London.
