12th May 2016
Newcastle-under-Lyme College (NULC) is launching an exciting new travel and tourism course in partnership with Eurocamp.
Potential students wanting to study the BTEC Level 3 qualification in Resort Representatives will, as part of this course, benefit from an exciting and fun-filled paid work placement at one of Eurocamps overseas holiday parcs.
The work placement will last for 6 months and students will gain hands-on experience of being a resort representative at a holiday resort in France, Italy or Spain. During the placement students will carry out various tasks including: welcoming customers, providing local information, housekeeping and taking part in planning and organising of activities.
The students, who must be aged 18 or over by the 1st of April 2017, will receive a work placement fee, uniform, travel expenses and accommodation during the work placement.
Applicants will study at the College from September 2016 to March 2017 and undertake modules including Customer Servicecustomer service, the business of travel and tourism and preparing for employment in travel and tourism, before jetting off on a 6 month overseas adventure which will finish in September 2017.
Shelley Brown, Head of Faculty for Vocational Studies at NULC, said: “This is an exciting time for the College and we are delighted to be able offer this unique course to students to provide them with a once in a lifetime opportunity to study at college and take part in a residential work placement overseas.”
Shelley continued: “We’re hoping that students will get the best of both worlds, gaining a nationally recognised vocational qualification as well as having the opportunity to see the world and gain valuable work experience in the travel industry.”
Upon completion of the one year course, students will be able to return to a Eurocamp resort for a subsequent season in the same role, or if they have demonstrated the right skills and attitude, they could progress into a Team Leader position.
Elaine Bader, Head of Overseas Resourcing at Eurocamp, said: “We are really pleased to be working alongside NULC in offering these opportunities to young people, assisting them to develop their personal and customer service skills and giving them the first step in forging a career in travel.”
