College opens its doors to prospective students
20th January 2016
Newcastle-under-Lyme College (NULC) is holding an Open Event to help Year 11 pupils choose the right course for career success.
NULC welcomes prospective students and their families to its Knutton Lane campus on Saturday 23 January, 10am-12noon to meet tutors and current students and find out more about the wide range of courses on offer.
Talks and presentations on the morning include a ‘College Overview’ presented by Karen Dobson, Principal and Chief Executive and a ‘Student Life Talk’ by current NULC students.
Karen Dobson said: “The aim of our open event is to offer school leavers information on the full range of options available, so that they can make an informed choice about their future studies. We’ll have expert staff on hand throughout the morning, to give young people advice so that they apply for the course that’s right for them.”
Current NULC students will provide tours of the campus, showcasing the state-of-the-art academic, vocational, sports, music and performing arts facilities on offer.
Visitors will also be able to hear about the range of support on offer, from financial help and additional learner support to activities and enrichment opportunities.
Once prospective students have the all the information they need, they can apply for their chosen course(s) on the morning at an ‘Application Station’, a designated area in the College where staff will be on hand to offer guidance on completing the application process.
The College is encouraging individuals wanting to attend the Open Event to pre-register online to beat the queues on the day.
In 2015 the College exceeded national benchmarks with a 99% pass rate for vocational subjects and a 99.2% pass rate for A Levels.
