College students open art exhibition at local gallery
21st April 2016
Students from Newcastle-under-Lyme College (NULC) will be opening an art exhibition with an exclusive VIP viewing on Friday 22 April at Upstairs Gallery in Piccadilly, Hanley.
The nine students, who are currently studying the Foundation degree (FdA) in Graphics and Digital Design and the Foundation degree (FdA) in Digital Media Production at NULC in partnership with Staffordshire University, will be showcasing work they have produced in specialisms encompassing web design, editorial design, illustration, photography and more.
Titled ‘NINE Exhibition’, the students will show their creativity by individually responding to the number nine in their work. The exhibition aims to inspire others, illustrate emerging talent and unmask the students’ creativity as they prepare to graduate this summer and launch their careers as qualified graphics and digital designers.
Shannon Steyn, Foundation Degree Curriculum Leader at NULC, said: “I’m really proud of all of my students. They’ve worked so hard over the past few weeks to take the idea of opening an exhibition from concept to completion. Each student has taken on individuals roles focusing on branding, PR and finances to ensure the exhibition opens and is a success. They’re all really excited to launch the exhibition with a VIP preview this Friday and open to the public the following day.”
‘NINE Exhibition’ will be open to members of the public from Saturday 23 April to Wednesday 27 April between 10am and 6pm (11am – 3pm on Sunday 24 April), and visitors are encouraged to come along to experience this varied and contemporary exhibition.
