NULC apprentices celebrate graduation success

They were among 122 advanced and higher apprentices to be honoured at the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Apprenticeship Graduation ceremony at the County Showground, Stafford on Wednesday 13th July 2016.

Organised by the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Local Enterprise Partnership, the afternoon ceremony saw apprentices from colleges and training providers take to the stage to receive certificates of achievement in front of proud family members, friends and employers.

The 34 graduates from NULC completed apprenticeships in a variety of subjects including business, customer service, financial skills, hairdressing, engineering; health, public services and care; health and social care; and information and communication technology.  The apprentices work for a range of local employers including; Meridian Business Support, Ageas UK Ltd, TG Holdcroft, LEONI Wiring Systems, Deeset and Bradwell Hall Nursing Home.

Now in its 2nd year, the event enables apprentices, training providers and employers to celebrate at the type of formal graduation ceremony usually associated with universities.

Guest speakers at the ceremony included Tim Edwards, Chair of the Staffordshire Providers Association; Kevin Davies, Chief Executive Officer of the Vine Trust Group and Becci Bryant Chief Executive of Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

NULC apprentice Jo Finnerty, who works for Hanley-based charitable organisation NSUG said: “it was a fantastic event, there was a celebratory atmosphere and it was great to receive my graduation certificate on stage in front of my family.  The guest speakers were inspiring and it shows that you don’t necessarily have to go to university to have your hard work and achievements recognised.”

Carl Riding, Head of Employer Engagement & Training at NULC said: “The graduation provides a fantastic opportunity for apprentices to share their success with their families and employers and is a fitting reward for their hard work.  I am very proud that we had such a strong representation at the event, a true testament to our commitment to providing high quality training to enhance the future careers of our apprentices.”
