Prospective students invited to open day and to preview new Performing Arts Centre
13th January 2015
Visitors to Newcastle-under-Lyme College's next open day will get the opportunity to tour the brand new Performing Arts Centre, which opens its doors to students at the end of this month.
The open day will welcome year 11 pupils, as well as adults, on Saturday 24th January from 10am till noon.
The £5.5 million Performing Arts Centre is Newcastle-under-Lyme College's (NULC) latest innovation to benefit students and features state-of-the-art dance and rehearsal studios, a café and a 200-seat performance theatre.
The open day is a chance for prospective students and adult learners to find out more about the wide range of courses the College has to offer including new courses in performing arts. Visitors can talk to tutors and current students to gain a real insight into College life.
Expert staff will provide advice and guidance about the range of support on offer, from financial help to additional learner support, and on student opportunities to play sport, gain work experience and enjoy enrichment activities alongside their studies.
The open day is predominantly aimed at year 11 pupils who will join the College in September to study for A-levels or vocational qualifications or apprenticeships. This time adults are also being encouraged to come and find out about higher education programmes, professional qualifications and apprenticeships.
Karen Dobson, Principal and Chief Executive said: "With a 99% pass rate in vocational subjects and 98% pass rate for A-Levels, NULC provides great opportunities to succeed and progress for young people and adults alike."
The College was rated 'good' by Ofsted with many 'outstanding' features, which put NULC among the country's top 10 colleges inspected in 2013.
There are over 36 different A-Level subjects on offer, plus vocational qualifications and apprenticeships in subjects like media, business and computing, care and child care, construction and engineering, hair and beauty, floristry, music and performing arts, public services, sport and exercise, science, travel and tourism.
