Dan said: “I was thrilled to be shortlisted for this award but I never thought I’d actually win so I’m absolutely ecstatic!  I’m very passionate about sport and my role in the school so it’s great to be recognised.”

Dan began his employment at Sutherland Primary School in Blurton as a Level 2 Activity Leadership Apprentice which he successfully achieved and went on to become the first NULC apprentice to progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport.

Gary Boote, Headteacher at Sutherland Primary Academy, said: “Dan is thriving in his new role at Level 3 and he is leading on tasks such as curriculum planning for the school.  He shows a huge level of commitment not only within the school timetable but also in the after

school clubs.  Dan fully deserves to be recognised for his outstanding achievement and we’re pleased to offer him a full-time position.”
The AoC Sport Awards conference was held on Tuesday 28 June at the International Centre, Telford.  NULC had students shortlisted in 4 out of the 5 categories.  Lucy Holt, aged 19 from Talke Pits, was runner up in the category Student Performer of the Year and Florence Owen, aged 18 from Penkhull, was runner up in the category Inspirational Student of the Year.
