Teaching professionals from outside of the UK visit NULC

31st January 2018

Teaching professionals from around Europe visited both Stafford College on Monday 22 January and Newcastle-under-Lyme College (NULC) Thursday 25 January for an educational visit as part of Newcastle and Stafford College Group’s involvement with this year’s Erasmus+ TIP Project.

Teaching professionals from outside of the UK visit NULC

The project, which has a particular focus on STEM provision, teaching and post-16 learning opportunities, aims to help improve teaching standards through a series of fact finding exercises where teaching professionals of varying levels are invited to observe and share knowledge, experiences and best practice within the teaching industry.

Delegates from Portugal, Ireland, Turkey and the Czech Republic began their visit by visiting Stafford College’s state-of-the-art Science and Technology Centre, which included an introduction to the impressive LEGO® Education Innovation Studio, a meet and greet with Pepper the robot and visitors received an informative presentation on how educational establishments can monitor curriculum performance and how to effectively prepare for an Ofsted visit.  Later in the week, delegates visited NULC, where they were invited to take a tour of the College’s Academy of Sport programme and hear all about our vocational offering and the importance of the role of a Teaching and Learning Coach.

The delegates will also be visiting local businesses including Wavemaker and JCB as well as attending various social events to get an idea of Staffordshire’s culture and heritage. Francesca Eardley, Science Co-ordinator at Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group, will be visiting Istanbul and Galway later this year as a return visit as part of the project.
